Yep, MediaBrowser/VideoBrowser are meant to work with extenders, although I don't know how well (I only have one TV, so either the HTPC or Xbox360 is turned on at any one time ;))
It won't get around any codec problems with extenders that Media Center doesn't already handle however. I think.

MP2? Isn't that an audio format?

Great post, good information here. Will video/media browser with work extenders in particular the xbox 360?
I'm still trying to determine if I want to use one of them many transcoders or just convert all my files/DVD's to mp2 files.
I have MyMovies installed, but I've only converted one of my files to mp2 to test with and I haven't installed any of the transcoders yet.
I have a lot of TV I've downloaded so something that will include the metadata from the web on these TV shows would be better than what MyMovies has right now.

<del datetime="2008-12-12T10:31:50+00:00">Having not run Home Premium on my own network, I didn't realise this was the case. A quick google confirms you're correct though.

I'll update the guide when I have a workaround (need to setup VM's and whatnot first), I've already got a theory or two :)</del>

Took a bit longer than I wanted, VPC wouldn't install, switched to Win7 in frustration. Updated the guide with a "workaround" for Home Premium.

Great tips there Paul, I think you may have pointed me in a good direction for issues I am having with sleep and my HTPC.

One point, do you really think Home Premium is good enough if you want to stream media across a network? Home Premium seems to be configured to not be able to remember network passwords.
